Empowering Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder

About Us

Leading the Way in Autism Spectrum Care and Support

At the Adult Autism Spectrum Clinic, we provide tailored assessments and therapies designed to enhance the lives of adults on the spectrum. Our commitment to the highest standards of care results in improved daily functioning and quality of life for our clients. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Shelley Hyman, we have positively impacted countless individuals, helping them lead fulfilling lives.

Our clinic focuses on understanding and addressing the unique needs of adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. By employing a personalized approach, we have witnessed remarkable progress in our clients, significantly enhancing their independence and ability to navigate daily challenges.

Why Choose Us?

(1) In-person, comprehensive adult-only clinic, which not only assesses but treatment options are usually immediately available with very strong post-diagnostic support available

(2) Gender sensitive: We are big supporters of the LGBTQ community and in particular assess and treat many of the trans community with great sensitivity to gender

(3) We can do therapy via Telehealth for those who either struggle to attend in person or live too far

(4) we use gold standard tools of assessment : ADOS-II, MIGDAS-II. Our assessments usually go from 3-5 hours and are extremely comprehensive

(5) We often work the NDIS, writing reports for NDIS funding. We use the requred adaptative functioning tests that NDIS applocations need. Therapy under the NDIS can be covered if you are self or plan managed.

(6) We have relatively short wait lists

(7) We use a multi-modal, holistic assessment process: We have clinical interviews, self-report questions, input from family or close contacts (where possible). We look at current functioning and developmental history. We screen for overlapping co-occurring conditions like ASD, trauma, OCD and social anxiety. Many adult clients present with complex histories and masking behaviours—so one test is never enough.

(8) We have clear and compassion communication: We are collaborative, use informed consent, have space for your input, and a clear explanation of what is being assessed. The report will reflect you- not a checklist of symptoms.

The Power of Accurate Autism Diagnosis & Treatment in Adulthood

For many autistic adults, receiving a diagnosis later in life is not the end of the road—it’s the beginning of clarity, self-understanding, and growth. At [Your Clinic Name], we specialize in helping adults explore their neurodivergence in a respectful, evidence-based, and affirming way.

Why Adult Diagnosis Matters

  • Improved mental health: Studies show that adults who receive a formal autism diagnosis report lower levels of anxiety and depression and greater self-acceptance. Knowing “why” you experience the world differently can relieve years of internal confusion and misdiagnosis.
  •  Increased self-identity and self-esteem: Research from the University of Bath (2020) found that late-diagnosed autistic adults often experience a stronger sense of identity and reduced self-blame following diagnosis.
  • Better access to support: A confirmed diagnosis can open doors to workplace accommodations, therapy tailored to autistic needs, social skills support, and community belonging—leading to a measurable improvement in daily functioning and autonomy.
  • Therapy tailored for autistic adults works: Interventions such as autism-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), occupational therapy, and executive function coaching have been shown to help with burnout, sensory overload, and emotional regulation.

Our Focus

At our Sydney ASD Clinic, we are committed to providing thorough, adult-specific autism assessments and support. We understand that autism can present differently in adulthood—especially in women, nonbinary individuals, and those who’ve masked for years. Whether you’re seeking diagnosis, validation, or tools to thrive, we’re here to support your journey with empathy and clinical excellence.

It’s never too late to understand yourself.
